About John S. Duffy

This is where I write all the self-important stuff that lures you in to my little world. I talk about my wife and kids so you can relate to me. I discuss my past to enhance your understanding of me. I betray a small inadequacy that makes me interesting to you. Then I list my influences, my favorite bands, my favorite music, and I explain why I prefer Irish Whiskey over Bourbon. Then I close with this whimsical, philosophical quote from someone you have heard of…the intention of this is to let you know I’m educated.
Then you click exit which is cyber-correctness for “Whatever”.

So be it.

I am a married, father of four with lots of time to kill between my job, family obligations, and the occasional adult beverage.

I’ve been a pizza cook, soldier, cemetery plot salesman, trucking school recruiter, construction worker, business owner, broadcaster, pseudo-journalist, student, and will, occasionally, keep a job long enough to earn a decent living.

Since I’ve got excess time at every turn, I devote myself to a craft that is largely unappreciated, grossly undercompensated, and mildly therapeutic.

I write the words I hear in my head.
There are like children who’ve sniffed too much glue waiting for the short bus.
Hookers who don’t take plastic or latex.
A mold without mildew, a map with no legend.
They just arrive and when I can pry myself from my absurdly easy, laidback life, I write them down.

-John.

I came across a post you left last year on the nanowrimo forums; you were looking for writers in Nottoway. I was wondering if you still were.

Yes, I am. I’ve been through a dry spell lately. Not the dreaded “writer’s block” more like “writer’s apathy”…but would enjoy meeting up with like-minded folks.

Wish I could write a bio like that! Loved it, very entertaining and only a few paragraphs. Jealous.
